From Thanksgiving Thrillers to Playoff Shockers: Plus, the Pope’s Favorite Team

This week on Girlfriends + Football, Laura, Beth, and Dezi settled in for a post-holiday catch-up filled with Thanksgiving reactions, playoff talk, sideline fashion, and one very unexpected debate about the Pope’s favorite NFL team.

The episode kicked off with the girls laughing about the chaos of the long holiday weekend. Between traveling, family, and food comas, everyone somehow still managed to watch football, although some of us did so more awake than others. As usual, the conversation moved fast, bouncing between game recaps, eyebrow-raising calls, and the teams that surprised all of us.

Thanksgiving Games and Big Reactions

Thanksgiving matchups gave the crew plenty to talk about. Some games delivered exactly what fans expected, while others went completely off script. A few teams showed up stronger than anticipated, making the playoff picture a little messier and a lot more interesting. And yes, several of us were stress-eating pie by halftime.

One of the biggest themes coming out of the holiday was unpredictability. The season has reached the point where nothing feels guaranteed, and that made the Girlfriends lean even harder into analyzing who’s building momentum and who’s simply surviving.

Playoff Shockers and Who Actually Looks Dangerous

Once Thanksgiving leftovers were wrapped up, attention turned to playoff implications. The conversation got animated as the girls debated which teams looked legitimately dangerous and which ones might crumble under pressure.

There was plenty of energy around surprise contenders and just as much disbelief over teams that should be thriving but aren’t. The transcript made one thing clear: no one is walking into the postseason unchallenged.

Yes… We Talked About the Pope’s Favorite NFL Team

One of the funniest tangents of the episode came when the Girlfriends tried to figure out if the bears were winning on their own or because they had the backing of the Vatican.

If they win the whole thing, we all have a lot of thinking about religion to do.

Rate the Fit: Sideline Fashion Did Not Disappoint

As always, the girls dove into Rate the Fit, breaking down the best (and sometimes questionable) fashion moments across the league. Whether it was bold coat choices, questionable patterns, or “did he get dressed in the dark?” moments, we captured plenty of laughter and strong opinions.

Cocktails, Mocktails, and the Spirit of the Season

No episode is complete without the weekly drink segment, and this week the festive vibes were flowing. Whether you’re team cocktail or team mocktail, there's a recipe for you, though the girls definitely had thoughts about which ones fit the holiday mood best.

Injuries, Headlines, and What Comes Next

The crew also covered the latest injury news and league headlines, assessing which updates might shake up the coming weeks. The season is entering its most intense stretch, and the Girlfriends are already predicting which teams are going to feel the pressure the most.
