NFL Chaos, Comebacks & Costly Injuries: Week 15 with Girlfriends & Football
With just three weeks left in the NFL season, your favorite girlfriends are back and diving into one of the most chaotic weeks we’ve seen all year. Playoff paths are shifting, veterans are returning, dynasties are wobbling, and a wave of major injuries has changed the postseason landscape—especially for Kansas City.
And yes… we’re still in disbelief that we might be looking at a playoff picture without the Chiefs for the first time in nearly a decade.
Grab your drink of choice. Let’s recap.
An Unexpected Return: Uncle Phil Is Back
The Colts needed a plan after a major quarterback injury, and their answer was not what anyone expected.
Enter Phillip Rivers—44 years old, five years removed from the field, and back under center.
And the wildest part?
He didn’t look rusty. At all.
For most of the game, Rivers looked like he might pull off the comeback win. It was meme-worthy, nostalgia-inducing football, right up until a last-minute interception snatched the victory away. Still, muscle memory is real, and Rivers is starting again next week—so this storyline is far from over.
The memes didn’t stop there, of course. Dan Marino? Terry Bradshaw? This season is unhinged enough that we wouldn’t be surprised by anything.
Bills, Niners & Lions: A Weekend of Stress and Survival
Bills Mafia: the cardiac crew returns
Beth summed it up perfectly:
The Bills are a second-half team.
Down 21–0, it looked bleak.
Then Josh Allen flipped the switch.
Five consecutive touchdowns later, Buffalo clawed back for the win—reminding everyone exactly how dangerous they can be when the offense clicks and the defense shows up.
And in equally big Bills news?
Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld announced they’re expecting! Cue the internet melting over the snowman-themed announcement and belly-kiss photo.
The 49ers: winning, but paying the price
The Niners took the win over the Titans, but injuries are mounting:
Ricky Pearsall suffered an ankle sprain and aggravated a PCL
Brandon Aiyuk is essentially done as a Niner
And yet—Brock Purdy stayed on brand with:
the Dougie
risky untucked-ball runs
and a jump-throw Kyle Shanahan calls “Michael Jordan”
The vibe: chaotic, concerning, and entertaining.
Detroit Lions: heartbreak by inches
Detroit and L.A. battled in a back-and-forth shootout, ending in a Lions loss—fueled by one of the most frustrating touchdown reviews we’ve seen all season.
Yes, the call stood.
Yes, every angle showed the knee was down.
Yes, we’re still salty.
The Lions’ season of win-loss-win-loss continues, and hopes now turn toward the Steelers.
Rate the Fit: Ricky Pearsall Takes the Crown
Despite the injuries, Ricky Pearsall stole this week’s fashion spotlight:
leather jacket
white button-up and tie
black pants
matching bag
signature glasses
Clean. Confident. Effortlessly stylish.
Our resident DJ in the comments paired the look with the perfect track:
“Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics.
Spot on.
Sports & Medicine: The Injury Toll Hits Hard
This week delivered a brutal wave of injuries with major playoff implications.
Patrick Mahomes: ACL + LCL
Hyperextended knee.
ACL and LCL damage.
Surgery completed within 48 hours.
The LCL required immediate repair—hence the urgency—while the ACL reconstruction now begins the long road back. He’s expected to start rehab almost immediately, and while a return next season is possible, it may be 2027 before he regains full pre-injury performance.
Micah Parsons: ACL tear
A non-contact plant-and-pivot injury ended the season for the Packers’ defensive standout.
Because his injury is a pure ACL tear—not involving collateral ligament damage—he may return sooner than Mahomes. But full agility and burst will take time.
Ricky Pearsall: PCL re-aggravation & ankle sprain
Contralateral leg injuries make cutting and acceleration painful, difficult, and risky—especially for a receiver who depends on speed and route precision.
Other notable injuries & returns
Anthony Richardson cleared to return after an orbital bone injury affecting vision
TJ Watt suffered a collapsed lung from dry needling—requiring a pleurodesis surgery
A collapsed lung can occur when a needle punctures the pleural space, letting air collect and compress the lung. Rare, but possible.
This was, without question, one of the most medically intense weeks of the season.
Looking Ahead
The playoff race is officially mayhem.
Veterans are returning.
Franchises are wobbling.
And injuries are rewriting the script.
Buffalo is surging.
The Niners are fighting depth issues.
Detroit is searching for momentum.
And the Colts are living in a sitcom plotline.
Week 16?
We’re not emotionally ready. But we’ll be here.
